2 & 3 July we relaxed on the Jersey Shore, literally! Not every day has to be consumed with touring!
The New Jersey National Guard has a training facility in the town of Sea Girt, just a few blocks from the Sea Girt Lighthouse that we previously visited. Because it is a military facility, access is restricted to those holding valid military ID cards or retirees. They also have a small campgrounds and a beach, with ample free parking. The parking thing is huge as especially on the weekends, the beaches are crowded and everyone coming to the beaches has to park somewhere. On-street parking is scarce and if you find it, you likely have a good hike ahead of you before you see any sand or water.

They have a small but nice campgrounds and it is close to the beach. The parking area accommodates hundreds of vehicles and there is overflow capacity. The beach is incredible! |

Tomorrow, 4 July, we head to Philadelphia. I cannot think of a better place to be on the 4th than Philadelphia, touring the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the other significant historical sights here.
Liberty our dog gets to stay in the Petsmart pet hotel and she gets he hair cut so she will look like a Schnauzer again. Doreen and I will take the train into downtown, finish touring and then take in a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game. Since the Petsmart closes at 6 pm, we cannot pick up Liberty until the next morning, so we got a hotel for the night.
Hope everyone has a great 4th! Be safe!
The beach looks awesome!! Glad you had fun and had time to relax. Kids enjoyed looking at the beach and ocean.
