10 July
Sunday we traveled to the Peekskill Metro North train station and
rode the train to New York and Grand Central Station. There we transferred to the “7” subway east
towards Queens.

The Peekskill Station |

Subway tracks with the Empire State Building in the background. |
|
Once you get the hang of it the subways and trains are fairly easy to navigate |
|
Graffiti everywhere |
We stopped at the
Mets-Willets station which is where the Citi Field is located, the home of the
New York Mets Major League baseball team.
Citi Field used to be Shea Stadium.
We visited the museum which was field with Mets history and memorabilia. The game started at 1310 hrs

Out in front of the stadium |
|
Warm and overcast to start then became very sunny today |
|
Even the dogs have a racket here!! |
|
Nice stadium. Seats were great. Food was great.. Baseball was pretty good. |
|
The Mets cheering section. The apple can be seen to the left in the "batter's eye.. It pops up when they hit a home run. |
|
Was empty early but filled up pretty good. |
|
We met a nice couple from Long Island while waiting for the game to start. |
|
Had a great day at the ball park. |
11 July
Monday was a down day.
After spending the last two days in New York City we both wanted to
relax a bit. We were at the dog kennel
when they opened at 0830 hrs and then brought Liberty back, gave her a bath and
washed her nylon crate down good. She
never messes in it, but it smelled a bit like a dog kennel. Doreen did laundry and later we traveled into
West Point and shopped at the BX and Commissary.
