7 June - The Great American Ballpark Tour @ Cincinnati

7 June
Today we drove to Cincinnati OH to visit the Great American Ballpark, home of the Cincinnati Reds baseball club.  It is located near the Ohio River in the downtown area.  What a scenic walk!

There Reds have played in seven ballparks since their inception back in 1869 as the original professional baseball team. Most recently, they played in Crosley Field 1912-1970, Riverfront Field from 1970-2002 and Great American Ball Park 2003-present.

We toured the stadium, visited the Reds hall of fame and the souvenir shop.  The tour included areas like the press box, the various clubs, the warning track behind home plate and the home and visitors dugouts.

A beautiful Purple Heart memorial on display to honor our combat wounded

The Reds dugout, located on the first base side unlike most parks where the home team is on the third base side.

Bobble head display in the museum.  Em, yeah...

Cincinnati Reds legend Pete Rose may not be in the Baseball Hall of Fame YET, but he is being inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame and his #14 will be retired during the week of 24-26 June 2016

Johnny Bench's Gold Glove.  One of the best catcher's the game has ever seen.

Strategizing!

Bench warmers!

Quite a fan cave!

The World Series trophy
Tomorrow we will attend the Cincinnati Reds vs St Louis Cardinals baseball game at 7:10 pm.  Our friend Ernie Reid will pick us up here at the campgrounds and we will ride together down there.  It is a little over an hour drive from Dayton to the ball park.
