Hey, what the heck are we doing in Tennessee?? We are supposed to be in Kentucky for the next few days! Well, we departed Mermet Springs IL this morning about 1030 hrs and headed down to an area called Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park south of Dawson Springs KY. The trip was uneventful and only took us about 1-1/2 hrs plus a short stop. When we arrived at Pennyrile it was painfully obvious the camp site was not going to work. Most of the camp sites were very tight with trees right at the edge of the road at the entrances of the sites. This makes parking a 42 ft long fifth wheel almost impossible. Damaging the trailer is simply not worth it. The camp site was also very narrow and terribly muddy with all the rain they've had in the past few days.

Might have been long enough, but too narrow for five slides |

Trees at the corner of the entrances do not make it easy to park a 42 ft long trailer |

A muddy mess |
So we headed down to Hopkinsville KY, pulled into a large shopping center parking lot and set up shop in the trailer for some lunch and to come up with "Plan B" on a camp site. Thanks to the Allstays C-RV Military app on my iPhone, locating a nearby camp site was easy. We located an RV park at Fort Campbell TN called the "Eagles Nest". It was first come, first served, but the guy I spoke with said they had sire available, so away we went. It was only about 35 miles south, just over the KY-TN border and it did not take us long to get here. The sites were pretty limited but we found one that would accommodate our length and width, and it is "full hookup", meaning 50 amp electric with water and sewer service - all for $20/night! SCORE! We were busy getting set up and did not get any pictures taken but we will tomorrow. We will investigate Fort Campbell tomorrow and what there is to see in the area since we had not planned this stay in advance. I also plan to check out Pennyroyal scuba site at Hopkinsville tomorrow and hopefully I can find someone to dive with later in the week.
Well, having to switch gears on the camp site was not pleasant, but we have learned to "improvise, adapt and overcome" when things go south. This is the first curve ball for this trip but surely won't be the last. On the plus side, we scored another couple states on our US map!

If you mean the map with all the locations on it, there is a web site called roadtrippers.com that hosts the maps. I started using Google Maps, but you can only put in a limited number of waypoints, maybe 10? Anyway it was not the answer so I found roadtrippers
